Creating a new home for former American Tap Dance Foundation
Education Programs
Hi everyone, allow me to introduce myself, Susan Hebach,
the new Director of Tap Dance Central Inc.
Upon the news of the planned closing of our much loved American Tap Dance Center, I have mobilized our dedicated teachers, tap artists and student community to continue our youth and adult programs and unique tap dance space under a new umbrella, which has now become a new 501c3
"Tap Dance Central Inc."
We now have a lease in the current location on
154 Christopher St. Suite 2B, and
classes and rehearsal space rentals resume
starting September 3, 2024!
If you have come to love the vibrant student community,
the wonderful teachers and classes offered at ATDF, please consider
being a part of Tap Dance Central Inc.
A fundraising campaign has begun to help raise money to prepare
to have a successful start for our new season.

About Susan Hebach
Susan Hebach worked with the ATDF for the past 18 years helping to develop and plan the educational programs & classes offered at ATDF. She has dedicated her career to tap dance! After earning her B.S. in Dance Education from Georgia State University, she moved to NYC to study Tap at "Woodpeckers Tap Dance Center & Inter Arts Space" with Brenda Bufalino and members of the ATDO. Her teaching accomplishments include serving on the dance faculty at Oklahoma City University and Stephens College, and teaching locally in NYC at Steps on Broadway, Rosie's Theater Kids, the 92nd St. Y and the PS 11 after school program. However, her mainstay and home has been the American Tap Dance Foundation where she directed the youth program, was co-director of the Tap Teacher Training Program (with Margaret Morrison) and directed the Tap City Youth Ensemble since its inception in 2006 through 2024.
